Torrance Iron:

Meeting your varied needs is our goal. We provide gray iron castings from a base ASTM class 35 on an "A"  bar. From this base, we inoculate to get higher or lower classes of gray iron and a variety of irons with special alloy requirements.  We produce 65-45-12, 80-55-06 and 100-70-03 ductile iron as cast and other grades of ductile iron through heat treatment, including Austempered ductile iron.  We also produce Ni-Hard, an abrasion-resistant special alloy iron. We pour these irons in weights from 1 pound to 500 pounds.

Gray Iron:  ASTM A48, A126, A159, & A278

Variations Sample Castings
Class 25
Class 30
Class 35
Class 40
Strengths:  Lowest cost iron with excellent machinability and vibration absorption.
Applications: Auto parts, engines, gears, brake shoes, housings, farm equipment, general machinery, household appliances, etc.

Ductile Iron: ASTM A536 & A395

Variations Sample Castings
60-40-18
65-45-12
80-55-06
100-70-03
Strengths: Greater strength than Gray iron without much cost increase and excellent machinability.
Applications: Construction equipment, Machine tools & dies, pumps, gears, and engine parts, etc.

Austempered Ductile Iron: ASTM A897

Variations Sample Castings
Grade 1 125-80-10
Grade 2 150-100-7
Grade 3 175-125-4
Grade 4 200-155-1
Grade 5 230-185-
Strengths: The family of ADI materials routinely outperforms steel casting, forgings, and fabrications in both structural and wear applications. It is 8% to 10% lighter than steel. The lower hardness grades of ADI are used in structural applications, while higher hardness are used in wear applications. Grades 1 and 2 are machinable at fatigue strengths higher than steel. The abrasive wear resistance of ADI meets or exceeds that of steel at any hardness level.
Applications: Transportation, Construction, Agriculture, Automotive, Military, and Power trains, etc.

Ni-Hard Iron: ASTM A532

Variations Sample Castings
Class 1 Type A
Strengths: Abrasion resistant iron.
Applications: Crushing, grinding and pounding of coal to pulverize it for transfer and slurry lines.  Recovery of bottom and fly ash from power plants, mixing and transferring sand, gravel, concrete, asphalt, and other heavy abrasive materials.  Corrosion and wear-resistant parts for slurry pumps.  Pipes and pipe fittings where long service and corrosion resistance is required.
